耳蜗埋植这种情况采用的比较少，轻度患者是不应该采用的。耳蜗埋植又称电子耳蜗或人工耳蜗。适用于中青年双侧极度耳聋，使用高功率助听器无效，耳内无活动性病变。X线断层拍片或CT检查证明内耳结构正常，耳蜗电图无反应，鼓岬或圆窗电刺激可诱出脑干反应者。治疗耳聋的药物通常是采用滴耳的形式的，这种药物要正确使用。把药瓶握在手中数分钟，使药液温度接近体温。把头稍倾或歪向一边，外耳道口向上，轻轻拉下耳垂，使耳道暴露，将药液滴进耳内。在使用滴鼻剂之前，应先清除鼻涕及清洁鼻腔，取坐位或仰卧位，头尽量后仰，将滴管对准鼻孔，依照医生所指定的滴数，将药液滴进鼻孔内，滴药后用手指轻轻捏几下鼻翼，使药液分布鼻腔，保持滴药姿势2分钟。
耳聋的病人应在家安心静养，尤应避免接触噪声或过大的声音。保持家庭环境整洁，病人心情舒畅，才有利于疾病恢复。预防感冒，有一部分耳聋的病人可能与感冒有间接关系，故预防感冒则可减少一个发病因素。注意勿过度劳累，做到起居有时，饮食定量。本病多发于中年人，故中年人更应注意这一点。情绪稳定，忌暴怒狂喜，因为这些均可使*内神经体液调节失去平衡，造成耳部血循环障碍，发生耳聋。多吃含维生素B族丰富的食物，叶酸是一种B族维生素，帮助体內制造红细胞。长期叶酸摄入不足会导致贫血和年龄引起的听力丧失。叶酸的很好来源有绿叶蔬菜、一些水果、豆类、肝脏、强化谷物、其他谷物和麦芽。
少食高脂肪食物老年人平时应少些肥肉、蛋黄、芝麻等，烹调食用应以清淡为主，少用动物油。长期食用高脂肪饮食，可使血脂升高，血脂不仅会沉积在血管壁，使微血管更细，还易阻塞微血管，导致供血不足。多吃富含锌元素的食物因为耳蜗内锌的含量高于其他器官，60岁以后耳蜗锌含量明显降低，必须适量补充锌食品，如海产品、豆类等。因锌能促进脂肪代谢，保护耳动脉血管。禁止刺激性食物老年人还应该要戒烟禁酒，不能喝浓茶、咖啡和其他刺激性食物。多吃富含镁元素的食物绿叶菜和硬果中镁较多，耳动脉中如果镁元素缺乏会影响耳动脉功能，导致听力损害。
